Two people, after countless beach days, had enough of melted wax all over the car or van and sand getting everywhere. Traditional sock-style covers always felt awkward — especially with larger boards — and were a pain to put on or shake out, regardless of size.

In the end, using a sock seemed more trouble than it was worth: tricky to slide on, annoying to clean, and a sticky mess once the wax started melting.
