The new IDEA release is DAVIDE SORRENTI JOURNALS – Volume 1. These are the first journals of Davide Sorrenti, covering the years 1994 to 1995 – a period marked by intense output at the very beginning of his short but influential career.

IDEA has already published three books by Davide Sorrenti, all edited by his mother, Francesca Sorrenti: the retrospective ArgueSKE 1994–1997 (three sold-out editions between 2019 and 2022), POLAROIDS (two sold-out editions in 2020 and 2023) and My Beutyfull Lyfe from 2022. Alongside these books, the documentary See Know Evil (2018), international screenings, and the Our Beutyfull Future exhibitions in New York (2019) and Milan (2022), Davide’s legacy continues to resonate strongly in contemporary culture.

The journals reveal the raw energy and volume of Davide’s creativity. Inside are ideas, drawings, writing, tear sheets, contact sheets, test prints and flyers – snapshots of his world and process.

The book was curated and edited by Francesca Sorrenti, Davide’s mother. She describes the journals as more than simple notebooks. They were pieces of a restless life – collages of photographs, Polaroids, contact sheets, sketches, stickers and quick notes. Every page captured the way Davide viewed the world: direct, raw and deeply human.

"Opening these journals means stepping into Davide’s universe – fast, beautiful and full of emotion. They show that he wasn’t only documenting a culture. He was documenting his own life, in all its intensity and vulnerability"

(Francesca Sorrenti)

This edition is presented as a substantial hardcover monograph with a dust jacket that reproduces the collaged cover of his very first journal.
