Overview

Marc Quinn - Kate by Marc

Kate by Marc documents the making of Marc Quinn’s Kate Moss sculptures, Sphinx (2006) and Siren (2008). Published by IDEA, the book brings together portraits, Polaroids, studio photographs and newspaper clippings to trace the works from initial research to finished sculpture, exploring celebrity, beauty and the figures society chooses to idolise.

An introduction by Raven Smith sets the scene, while a central section printed on premium paper presents 15 previously unseen collages by Quinn. Combining Moss’s face with found imagery and rearranged bodies, these works offer another perspective on the ideas behind the sculptures.
